Site and Event Logistics Coordinator


The Sparks Street Business Improvement Area & Mall Authority is seeking a Site and Event Logistics Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, previous building or site maintenance experience, the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, and possess an eye for detail.


Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director and working in a small team, the Site and Event Logistics Coordinator will oversee physical maintenance of Sparks Street and the logistical requirements of events and programming along the five pedestrian blocks of the street. The Site and Event Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for helping to create a visually appealing Sparks Street experience for visitors, merchants, residents and vendors to use and enjoy.  


Position Type:

Full Time 


Responsibilities include: 

  • Site preparation and maintenance as necessary for all programming and events, including Ottawa Ribfest, Buskerfest and Poutinefest  

  • Construction Liaison - Ensure that any construction being completed on Sparks Street is conducted safely and does not interfere with or endanger any visitors, merchants, or programming on the street 

  • Source, negotiate and oversee contractors, vendors and third-party suppliers for the Sparks Street BIA and Mall Authority  

  • Work with Ottawa By-Law and Police to keep the Sparks Street safe for all users 

  • Management of vehicle access on Sparks Street using bollards and parking permits  

  • Inspection and maintenance of all equipment/property belonging to Sparks Street, including the utility vehicle and trailer, lampposts, benches, planters, public areas and bicycle racks  

  • Preparation of Sparks Street for seasonal changes (turn water on/off, coordinate removal/installation of furniture, etc.)  

  • Removal of litter and graffiti in a timely manner 

  • Snow/ice removal around stairs and monuments 

  • Other duties as required 



  • Previous experience in site/property and/or event coordination  

  • Willingness to learn and be adaptable in a constantly changing environment  

  • Hands on knowledge and experience in landscaping, light construction and building/site maintenance  

  • Experienced and comfortable working with a variety of tools  

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail  

  • Ability to work under pressure with rigid timelines  

  • Knowledge of proper methods of lifting, loading and stacking heavy materials  

  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions  

  • Client-service orientated  

  • Collaborative Team player 

  • Basic proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook 

  • A valid Ontario unrestricted "G" class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) 

  • Bilingual (English / French) preferred. English oral, reading, writing required 


This is a Full-Time salaried position requiring evening and weekend availability.
