Hi, my name is Nazmi Fawaz, I'm currently a BIA member on Sparks Street. I have a degree in architecture from the University of Beirut, and MFDA certified in finance, with 30+ years of sales, marketing and senior management experience. I have been a business owner of Bello Uomo on Sparks Street and it is where I spent most my life, hoping the future will always be brighter. Since I opened my business I have been going through so many ups and downs over the years, but I have no doubt that through hard work and patience things will work out in the end. I believe in the BIA’s vision and initiatives to support our local businesses and community. I will still give my time and efforts to continue for years to come.

I am the founder and operator of Escape Tours and Rentals in Ottawa. I started my company with only a website in 2015. Since 2016, I grew Escape gradually on Sparks Street to have a fleet of 180 bikes, electric bikes, and electric scooters by 2022 and into a thriving business. We offer daily guided sightseeing tours and rentals to tourists and locals and are rated the #1 outdoor activity in Ottawa on TripAdvisor. I am passionate about promoting Ottawa as a worldwide destination for cycling and outdoor activities and showing that Sparks can be and is a thriving street for local businesses to grow and shine. Having run my business on Sparks Street for 7 years, I will bring valuable insight to the table as a board member and contribute to our collective effort to make the street thrive!

I have been a business owner within the Sparks Street BIA boundaries for over 7 years. My background includes environmental science, extensive business knowledge, geography, urban planning and a unique creative side that thrives on new ideas. While operating Le Moulin de Provence (KD) I have met and befriended the majority of business owners on Sparks Street, and exchanged ideas on what can make the business area better in the short and long-term. I would be honored to be able to represent these business owners as a board member and use the position to get more ideas heard and fulfilled in order to make Sparks Street a destination that every resident, office worker and tourist of Ottawa will find unique. The urgency of this is more vital now than ever due to contributing factors from the resent pandemic and convoy.
